With all the hormones and antibiotics given to dairy cows I don’t recommend drinking milk. There are better ways to get calcium like eating kale, collard greens or arugula. But milk can be beneficial to your skin when applied topically. Milk is not only soothing to the skin but also gently exfoliates due to the lactic acid it contains. For a quick and easy facial mix two table spoons of Dry Milk with just enough water to make a paste (about 1/2 teaspoon). Apply directly to you face and allow it to dry for about 15 mins before washing off. If you have dry, sensitive skin add two table spoons of honey for a more moisturizing mask. Or instead of using water to make a milk paste use unsweetened green tea to get the anti-aging benefits of green tea’s antioxidants.
Making a milk foot bath with one cup dry milk and 1 cup Epsom salts will sooth sore feet while softening rough skin. And for a really luxurious home spa treatment add 3 cups of dry milk to a warm bath and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
Also it is important to keep in mind that any time you change your skin care routine you may initially break out. I was rather upset when I noticed some acne after doing a few milk facials but it didn’t last long. With skin care the best approach is to think about what your goals are (reduce wrinkles, get rid of acne, etc.), come up with a routine that will target those goals and stick to it for at least a month to see if it’s getting the results you want.
I stopped drinking cows milk for 4 months now and my skin has cleared up so much!
